Deborah Hession, LCSW MCAP
Deborah has been in the field of substance abuse/chemical dependency for 30+ years. Her passion for helping others began in New York where she spent the majority of her career. Deborah brings to FCR extensive experience with Mental Health, Relapse Prevention, Family Therapy, Domestic Violence, and Trauma work. Deborah began her career in New York by obtaining her CASAC (Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor) and went on to earn her Master’s Degree in Social Work from Yeshiva University later becoming a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW.) Upon her arrival to Florida, she obtained her MCAP (Masters Level Certified Addictions Counselor) as well as her LCSW for Florida. Her hands on approach ensures that all staff and clients are impacted by her care and experience. She is direct, honest, and knowledgeable providing clients with a safe and structured environment to get well.
Brittany received her Bachelors of Arts in Women’s Studies from the University of Florida in 2008. In 2015, she graduated from Barry University with her (MSW,) Master’s Degree in Social Work. Currently, Brittany is a (RCSWI,) Registered Clinical Social Work Intern as she is working towards obtaining credentials to become an (LCSW,) Licensed Clinical Social Worker. Brittany has been working in the mental health and substance dependency profession for 8 years targeting a diverse population of adults and families to promote a healthy lifestyle through therapeutic intervention. Some of the modalities in which she specializes in are Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT,) and Motivational Interviewing, through Trauma-Informed Care. Brittany has a strong background in trauma centering on resiliency and recovery, in addition to co-occurring mood disorders, relapse prevention, mindfulness, meditation, codependency and self-care/self-love.
Melissa Johnson, CAC
Melissa Johnson has worked in the field of substance use treatment for 8 years now. Johnson acts as a background facility alumni coordinator, a BHT, a driver, and an admissions supervisor. Johnson has a passion for helping individuals see the joy in recovery. Johnson is currently working towards a degree in social work.
Jay Current, B.S.
Jay Current is an army combat veteran and the CAE manager here at Florida Center for Recovery. Current has 6 1/2 years of substance abuse and 12 step experience. With all of that experience, Current has developed a passion for addiction group therapy. Current has a bachelor’s degree in science (B.S.) and is now working on receiving his master’s degree in social work.
Jessica Johnson, RCSWI
Jessica Johnson is a Registered Clinical Social Worker Intern (RCSWI). For an RCSWI, Jessica Johnson has a large amount of experience working in the substance abuse field. In fact, Johnson has been working in the substance abuse field for 8 years now. On top of that, Johnson has received extensive medical experience while working in the army for 14 years. Combine Johnson’s medical and substance abuse treatment experience with her experience as an army veteran and her personal experience of becoming a cancer survivor, and you’ve created a woman that can take on anything, including the addiction treatment patients here at Florida Center for Recovery. Here at Florida Center for Recovery, Johnson acts as a primary therapist. Johnson’s specialties are men’s recovery groups and sex and family therapy.
