Dual Diagnosis

Dual diagnosis is the former term used to describe the presence of two conditions. Although still utilized this term has been replaced by the term, “co-occurring disorder“. In the context of addiction it refers to individuals who are diagnosed with both a substance addiction and a mental health condition. These individuals often present complex issues and need a specialized integrated treatment plan to treat both the substance addiction and the mental health condition.
