Intervention

The Encarta dictionary defines Intervention as: “… an action undertaken in order to change what is happening or might happen in another’s affairs, especially in order to prevent something undesirable.”

In the context of addiction treatment, interventions are necessary for individuals who are unable or unwilling to recognize the need for help. Interventionists assist families in confronting and guiding their loved one to recognize the signs and symptoms of addiction and the need for change.
